NGOs Rescue 14 Dogs from Smugglers in Cachar District

Proactive efforts by Barak Valley-based NGOs led to the rescue of 14 dogs from smugglers in Cachar district. Cachar SP Numal Mahatta reported that the dogs were recovered from the Ramnagar area near the ISBT, and two individuals were detained for interrogation. The dogs, picked up from various parts of the valley, were likely intended for transport to Mizoram. Nayan Das, assistant secretary of the animal welfare NGO Ashroy, revealed that the dogs originated from a village in the Algapur constituency of Hailakandi district. Following a similar dog smuggling case in Karimganj in April, NGOs, along with concerned students and Cachar Police, successfully intervened to rescue the dogs.
