NH-715 Project Case: Contractor Owner Arrested Over ₹4 Cr Dues in Jorhat

Mukesh Jalan, owner of Sadguru Engineering & Allied Services Pvt Ltd, was arrested by Jorhat Police from Guwahati in connection with alleged financial irregularities and non-payment of dues to sub-contractors involved in the four-lane NH-715 project. The arrest followed an FIR lodged at Teok police station by local contractors, who claimed the firm abandoned the work midway and owed around ₹4 crore. Despite multiple meetings chaired by the District Commissioner with National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited officials, the dispute remained unresolved. Jalan has been brought to Teok police station as investigation continues. The project has also faced long-running protests by student bodies like All Assam Students’ Union and All Assam Yuva Chatra Parishad over delays and alleged poor-quality work.
