NHM Staff Launch Statewide Sit-In in Assam Seeking Job Security and Pay Parity

Healthcare services in Assam saw partial disruption as National Health Mission employees began a three-day statewide sit-in demanding job regularisation and pay parity with permanent staff. Protests were held in all district headquarters. NHM workers said they have served on contract for nearly two decades, including during the COVID-19 pandemic, and accused the government of ignoring promises of regularisation and pay revision. Nearly 20,000 employees are part of the movement and warned of intensifying protests if no written response is received from the state.
