NIA Charges ULFA-I Chief Paresh Baruah, Two Others in 2023 Assam IED Plot

The NIA has chargesheeted ULFA-I chief Paresh Baruah and two others for plotting IED blasts in Assam on Independence Day 2023. The trio is accused under multiple laws, including the UAPA and Explosive Substances Act. IEDs were found at Guwahati’s Dispur Last Gate and other locations. The NIA began its probe in September 2024 and earlier arrested one person in connection. ULFA-I had claimed responsibility for planting bombs at over 20 sites across Assam.
