NIA Court Frames UAPA Charges Against MLA Akhil Gogoi for CAA Protests

MLA Akhil Gogoi and three others will face trial under Section 18 of the UAPA (conspiracy to commit a terrorist act) and sections of the IPC related to criminal conspiracy and hate speech. The charges stem from the 2019 anti-CAA protests in Assam. However, the NIA court did not charge them with sedition or support for a terrorist organization due to lack of evidence.
