Nijam Uddin Choudhury, an Assam MLA, is detained for “attempt to murder.”

All India Democratic Front MLA from Assam’s Algapur assembly constituency, Nijam Uddin Choudhury, was arrested on Wednesday on charges of attempt to murder following an FIR against him by a member of BJP’s minority cell.

According to the complainant, the accused attacked him at Dhaleshwar around 11:30pm on Tuesday night when he was going to Algapur from Panchgram in his car. Laskar said he somehow escaped and rushed to Katakhal police outpost for help but the accused followed him, barged into the outpost and attacked him with sharp weapons. He added that he was saved by the policemen.
