No Eviction in Barduar, Says Assam CM Amid Township Protest

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma clarified that no evictions or land purchases have occurred in Barduar Tea Estate for the proposed Palasbari satellite township. He said only a master plan is being prepared, and no buildings will be constructed by the government. Sarma accused Congress of politicizing the issue and reiterated that only illegal settlers would face eviction, not genuine tribal residents. Opposition leader Debabrata Saikia alleged misuse of land lease laws by the BJP government.
