No Trees Will Be Felled for Guwahati Ring Road Now: Assam Govt to HC

The Assam government informed the Gauhati High Court that no trees will be felled for the proposed Guwahati Ring Road project at present.
The statement came during the hearing of a PIL raising environmental concerns over the 121-km ring road project, which allegedly passes through parts of the Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary and nearby eco-sensitive zones.
Petitioners claimed mandatory forest clearances are still pending and warned that tree cutting could harm wildlife habitats and elephant corridors. The court has asked authorities to submit affidavits regarding project clearances and environmental impact studies.
