NDA Set to Form Assam Government Again, Himanta Likely to Lead

The NDA alliance in Assam is set to stake claim to form the new government, with caretaker Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expected to be chosen as the leader once again.

BJP national president J. P. Nadda arrived in Assam to oversee the BJP legislature party meeting. Alliance partners AGP and BPF have reportedly already proposed Himanta Biswa Sarma for the chief minister’s post.

Sources said the BJP-led NDA is preparing to form the government in Assam for a third consecutive term after its massive election victory. Discussions are also underway regarding representation of different ethnic communities in the new cabinet.
