Notorious Drug Mafia Escapes Raid in Jhagrapar, Dhubri; Locals Demand Swift Action

Despite ongoing efforts by the police and the community, the Jhagrapar area near Dhubri town remains a hub for illegal drug trade. A recent tip-off led the Dhubri police to conduct a raid on the residence of Bacha Sheikh, a notorious drug lord in Jhagrapara Pt-III village. The raid uncovered a substantial quantity of illegal drugs, including tablets, cough syrups, and containers filled with heroin. However, Sheikh managed to evade arrest, adding to his history of escaping custody.

Bacha Sheikh is identified as one of the most influential and dangerous drug mafias in the region, with a track record of involvement in smuggling illegal liquor, cannabis, and intoxicants. Despite previous arrests, he has consistently resumed illegal activities, accused of supplying drugs to local youth, adversely affecting the community.

The police have filed a case against Sheikh and his associates under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, initiating a manhunt to apprehend him. Authorities urge the public to cooperate and provide any information regarding Sheikh’s whereabouts. Local residents and the Village Defense Party (VDP) express frustration over the drug lord’s escape, demanding swift and stern action against him and his network.
