NRL Biorefinery Produces 99.7% Pure Ethanol Ahead of PM Modi’s Inauguration

Numaligarh Refinery Ltd’s bamboo-based biorefinery has successfully produced 99.7% pure ethanol in trial runs on September 3, marking a major milestone in second-generation ethanol production. The plant, India’s first to make ethanol from bamboo biomass, will be formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 14.

With a capacity to process 300 TMTPA of bamboo, the ₹3,250-crore project is expected to boost ethanol blending, generate jobs in bamboo farming, and promote green energy.
