ONGC Struggles to Contain Sivasagar Gas Leak, Major Reservoir Discovered

Four days into a gas leak at Rig No. 147 in Sivasagar’s Bhatiapar-Barichuk, ONGC’s Crisis Team is yet to contain it. A “junk shot” operation is planned next. Amid the crisis, ONGC discovered Assam’s largest natural gas reservoir, potentially meeting state demand for 25 years. Over 70 families have been evacuated. No technical fault found yet.
