Only one lift operating out of eight in the Kamrup (M) DC office

The Kamrup (Metro) district administration has shut down seven of the eight lifts in the District Commissioner’s office, which is situated in the Hengrabari area of the city, in an effort to save money on office maintenance and power usage. During this correspondent’s visit, seven of the eight lifts were found to be “out of order.” At the same time, people were observed standing in queue for a very long time in front of the only working lift at the DC office.

Upon being contacted, a senior district administration official confirmed that every one of the office building’s eight lifts is operating “in order.” However, it was decided not to use seven of them in order to reduce monthly costs and save power consumption.
