Opposition Leader Seeks Halt to Noonmati-Dighalipukhuri Flyover Construction Over Civic, Environmental Concerns

Debabrata Saikia, Leader of Opposition in Assam, has urged the state government to temporarily halt the Noonmati-Dighalipukhuri flyover project. He cited severe issues like air and noise pollution, dust, waterlogging, and traffic congestion. In a letter to the Chief Secretary, Saikia highlighted health risks from increased particulate matter and inadequate dust control measures. He noted the displacement of vendors, worsening respiratory health, and drainage problems during rains.
