Opposition Slams Assam Govt’s Arms Licence Move as “Dangerous” and “Divisive”

Opposition leaders, including Bhupen Borah and Lurinjyoti Gogoi, criticized the Assam Cabinet’s arms licence policy, calling it unconstitutional and a threat to communal harmony. Borah likened the move to “Americanising” society and questioned police effectiveness. Congress’s Mira Borthakur labeled it political showmanship, while AJP’s Gogoi claimed it was a tactic to incite division before elections. All termed it socially harmful and politically motivated.
