Suspected Poacher Killed in Kaziranga Encounter; Arms Recovered

A suspected poacher was shot dead in a gunfight with forest guards and Assam Police in Kaziranga’s Agoratoli range on Wednesday night. Acting on a tip-off, forces intercepted armed intruders near Dhanbari. The poachers opened fire, leading to a 30-minute exchange. One injured suspect was found and later declared dead at a hospital. An AK-56 rifle, a .303 rifle, and supplies were recovered. Search operations continue. This follows a similar May 21 encounter in the same area. Authorities remain on high alert to protect Kaziranga’s rhino population.
