Over 90% of Assam Students to Receive Free Education in Government Colleges

Education Minister Ranoj Pegu announced that over 90% of students in Assam will receive free education in government colleges and universities. He addressed concerns about fee hikes, stating the government will cover costs. The recent fee increase to Rs. 7,060 has faced criticism, but Rs. 68 crore has been released to support underprivileged students. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma previously announced free admission for 95,000 underprivileged students from Class 11 to post-graduation in government institutions.
