Partial Success for Guwahati Jal Board’s South West Water Supply Project

The Guwahati Jal Board has initiated water supply through the South West Guwahati water supply project, providing relief to residents who previously relied on alternative water sources. Launched in 2020 by former Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal, the project aims to serve several localities, including Kalipur, Kamakhya Colony, and Pandu. Approximately 50,000 homes across four designated municipal areas were slated to benefit from this initiative, which falls under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and is overseen by GMDA.
