Plea in SC Seeks CBI/NIA Probe into Zubeen Garg’s Death

Shyamkanu Mahanta, organiser of the Northeast India Festival, has moved the Supreme Court seeking transfer of the probe into singer Zubeen Garg’s death from Assam SIT to CBI or NIA.
Mahanta alleged he is being scapegoated through media trial despite being abroad for a cultural festival during the incident. The plea seeks protection from coercive action, suspension of Look-Out Circular, de-sealing of properties, and preservation of key evidence.
Garg, 52, died in Singapore on September 19, reportedly from drowning. Police have filed murder charges against his manager Siddharth Sharma and Mahanta, though Singapore authorities found no foul play.
