PM Modi Pitches Connectivity and Self-Reliance at BJP’s Booth Vijay Sankalp Sabha in Assam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the BJP’s Booth Vijay Sankalp Sabha in Guwahati, said the Union Budget has prioritised Assam and the Northeast, focusing on connectivity and economic self-reliance. He accused the Congress of decades of neglect and claimed Assam now receives around Rs 50,000 crore annually, compared to Rs 10,000 crore earlier.
Modi highlighted major investments in roads, highways, bridges and Brahmaputra-based connectivity, citing improved infrastructure and security in the region. He urged BJP workers to protect every vote ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the Centre has approved key projects, including the underwater rail-cum-road tunnel between Gohpur and Numaligarh, and stressed that connectivity and industrial growth are vital to job creation and preventing migration.
During his visit, Modi inaugurated the Northeast’s first Emergency Landing Facility at Moran and launched development projects worth over Rs 5,500 crore, marking a major BJP push ahead of the Assembly polls.
