Protests Erupt Across Assam Over Irrigation Failure Amid Dry Spell

Amid a severe dry spell, AASU and regional student bodies held statewide protests accusing the Irrigation and Water Resources Departments of failing farmers. Demonstrations were reported in Guwahati, Bijni, Nalbari, and Biswanath Chariali. Protestors blamed Irrigation Minister Ashok Singhal for mismanagement and demanded urgent water supply. A memorandum with key demands was submitted to the Chief Minister as discontent grows over non-functional schemes and drying farmlands.
