Protests Erupt in Golaghat Over Alleged Nagaland Gate on Assam Land

Fresh protests broke out along the Assam–Nagaland border in Golaghat after locals alleged that a concrete gate was erected in Chungajan, naming the area as part of Nagaland’s Niuland district. Residents claimed the structure was built on Assam land to assert territorial control.
Villagers from Navamilanpur, Mahima and nearby areas demanded immediate removal of the gate, accusing authorities of inaction and bias. Officials reached the site as protesters submitted a memorandum. Local leaders warned that repeated border incidents, including past violence and encroachments, have intensified tensions in the region.
