Railways Approves Survey for Doubling Key Assam Rail Route

The Ministry of Railways has approved a Final Location Survey for doubling the New Coochbehar–Golakganj–Gauripur–Abhayapuri rail section covering 152.31 km, at a cost of ₹3.65 crore.

Officials said the move aims to strengthen railway infrastructure, meet rising passenger and freight demand, and boost connectivity in Lower Assam. The survey will assess geographical and engineering requirements before the project moves to the next approval stage.
