Ranjan Gogoi will get the “Assam Baibhav” honor.

Assam Baibhav, the highest civilian award in the state, will be given to Rajya Sabha MP and former Chief Justice of India (CJI), Ranjan Gogoi. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, made this announcement on Tuesday.

Ranjan Gogoi the 46th CJI and the first person from the Northeast to hold this title. The Supreme Court delivered a landmark decision in the ten-year-old Ram Janambhumi-Babri Masjid dispute during his term.

On March 16, 2020, former President Ram Nath Kovind nominated him to the Rajya Sabha. He is now an MP.
