Rs 4.66 Lakh Cash Seized in Guwahati During Election Surveillance

A routine election surveillance drive by Basistha Police in Guwahati led to the seizure of Rs 4.66 lakh in cash from a woman travelling from Manipur.

The interception took place at Maikhuli during intensified checks ahead of the Assam Assembly elections. Police recovered Rs 4,66,800 from the woman and handed it over to the flying squad as per Election Commission of India guidelines.

Officials have launched an investigation to determine the source and intended use of the money. No conclusive findings have been reported so far, and the probe is ongoing.
