Rules to Regulate Airfares to Be Published Within Two Weeks

New Delhi: The Centre has informed the Supreme Court that rules to regulate airfares and additional airline charges have been finalised and received administrative approval. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta assured the bench that the rules would be published within two weeks, with the matter scheduled for further hearing on November 16.

The case stems from a PIL challenging unpredictable airfare hikes, surge pricing and reduced complimentary baggage allowances. The Supreme Court has called for rationalisation of ticket prices and relief for passengers, while the petition seeks a comprehensive regulatory framework to protect air travellers.
