Russia Proposes Rail Link to India via Central Asia

Russia has proposed exploring a railway route to India and the Indian Ocean via Turkmenistan, Iran and Afghanistan as an alternative to vulnerable maritime trade routes.
Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said such corridors could reduce risks linked to disruptions at key waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz. The proposal is still at an early stage and requires further feasibility studies.
