SARPA Assam Launches 24×7 Snakebite Helpline at Sivasagar Workshop

The SARPA Assam team organised a stakeholder workshop in Sivasagar to strengthen community-based strategies for preventing snakebite deaths. The ICMR-supported programme focused on awareness, response and coordination among health officials, administrators and community representatives.
A key highlight was the launch of Assam’s first 24×7 Snakebite Helpline (99578-75108) to provide immediate guidance and referrals. Officials stressed community participation to spread awareness and ensure timely response.
District and state health authorities assured full support, reiterating the goal of achieving zero snakebite deaths. The SARPA project is being implemented in seven states, with Geleky and Demow blocks in Sivasagar among its key sites.
