Science Teacher Suspended in Hailakandi for Electioneering on Social Media

A science teacher, Kholilur Rahman Mazumdar, at Koyah ME School in Hailakandi district, Assam, was suspended for violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. He had engaged in electioneering on social media, which was discovered by the district administration. Despite prior training as a presiding officer, Mazumdar’s actions led to his suspension under Section 6(1) of the Disciplinary and Appeal Rule, 1964. He is restricted from leaving headquarters without permission and from pursuing any other profession during the suspension period.
