Scorching September Heat Devastates Fishery in Assam

Fishermen in Biswanath district, Assam, are in distress as rising temperatures have led to the death of dozens of fish. Idris Ali, who operates a fishery in Sewaguri, reported a loss of around 20 to 22 quintals of fish. With temperatures hitting 37 degrees Celsius and expected to reach 38, the situation could worsen. Idris, who leased the fishery for 4 lakh rupees, is now struggling to salvage the dead fish for any potential profit. The ongoing heat wave has also disrupted school schedules across the state.
