Sentences Announced in Assam APSC Recruitment Scam
A special court in Guwahati sentenced Rakesh Paul, an APSC member, to 14 years in prison and fined him Rs 2 lakh for his role in the APSC Agriculture Development Officer (ADO) recruitment scam. Fellow APSC members Basanta Kumar Doley and Samedur Rahman received 10 years each and fines of Rs 2 lakh. Additionally, 29 other accused candidates were sentenced to four years in prison and fined Rs 10,000 each. This historic case involved fraudulent recruitment processes and bribery, leading to the largest simultaneous sentencing of officers in Assam’s history.
