Several Congress Workers Injured in Alleged Pre-Poll Violence in Naduar

In a fresh incident of pre-poll violence in Naduar LAC, several Congress workers were seriously injured after an alleged attack in Napam near Tezpur University on Monday.

According to reports, Congress candidate Sunil Chhetri had just concluded a campaign rally when masked youths, allegedly linked to the BJP as claimed by Congress workers, attacked party supporters.

Police quickly intervened to control the situation and shifted the injured to hospital. Chhetri also sustained a head injury after falling during the commotion and was hospitalised.

The Assam Gorkha Sammelan condemned the incident, urging authorities to ensure arrests and maintain a free and fair election environment.

The incident adds to a series of recent clashes reported in Sonitpur and nearby areas, raising concerns over law and order ahead of the elections.
