Severe Storm Ravages Karimganj District, Leaving Destruction in its Wake

Assam’s Karimganj district faced the wrath of a severe storm during the early hours of Monday, causing widespread devastation in Karimganj town and neighboring villages. The storm rendered many families homeless, destroyed vital documents of students, and damaged religious sites and public infrastructure. Mridul Yadav, Deputy Commissioner and chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, highlighted the extensive damages to civil, electrical, and private infrastructure due to the recurring pre-monsoon cyclonic storms. Efforts are underway for restoration by various agencies, including SDRF, Fire Service, APDCL, and Apda Mitras. Assessments for house damages are ongoing, with plans for rehabilitation grants to be provided by visiting teams.
