Significant Gas Discovery in Dirok-1 Well, Margherita
A major gas discovery has been made in an untested layer of the Dirok-1 Well in Margherita. The well is operated by a joint venture of Hindustan Oil Exploration Company (HOEC), OIL, and IOCL. The Sand-9 layer flowed over 6 million standard cubic feet of gas per day during initial testing. This discovery adds to the proven reserves of the Dirok field. HOEC holds a 26.882% interest and operates the block, with Oil India Limited and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd as partners. The plant currently produces about 35 million standard cubic feet of gas daily, contributing significantly to Assam’s natural gas production.
