Silchar Civic Polls Scheduled for October 3

Silchar: The Assam State Election Commission has fixed October 3 for polling to the Silchar Municipal Corporation, with counting scheduled for October 6. Voting will take place from 7:30 am to 4 pm across 316 polling stations covering 42 wards. The Model Code of Conduct has come into effect, while nominations can be filed until September 11.

The corporation has 2,70,772 registered voters, including 1,29,877 men, 1,40,884 women and 11 voters under the other category. Authorities said preparations for the election have begun, with counting to be held at the ISTT campus. A repoll, if required, will take place on October 5.
