Silchar Medical College Treats 809 Patients Amid Peaceful Protest by Junior Doctors

Despite a 24-hour protest by junior doctors at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH), patient care continued uninterrupted, with 809 patients treated at the outpatient department (OPD). Emergency services and regular operations ran smoothly, supported by the faculty. The protest was in response to a brutal incident at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata, with staff balancing their duties and demands for stricter security measures. SMCH has addressed most demands by the Junior Doctors Association (JDA) and revised a controversial advisory regarding safety on the premises.
