Sitharaman Inaugurates ₹632-Crore Riverfront, Gateway Projects in Guwahati

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday inaugurated two landmark projects in Guwahati — the Brahmaputra Riverfront–Sati Radhika Shaanti Udyan and the Gateway of Guwahati (Terminal & Jetty) — worth ₹632 crore.

The Gateway, built for ₹305 crore, features the Northeast’s first all-weather floating terminal, while the ₹327-crore riverfront park offers walkways, cycling tracks, and open spaces.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma called it a “historic moment” and announced plans to extend the riverfront up to Nilachal Hills.

Sitharaman praised the eco-friendly design, saying the projects reflect a perfect blend of culture, technology, and sustainability.
