Sivasagar District Hosts Inter-District Debate to Enhance Teachers’ Awareness on Teaching Strategies

Sivasagar District Samagra Siksha has taken a commendable initiative to boost teachers’ awareness of teaching-learning strategies by organizing an annual inter-district debating competition. The event, held at Thanu Ram Gogoi Town HS School in Sivasagar on Sunday, focused on the topic: “Teachers’ failure to gauge learners’ psychology is an impediment to effective teaching.” The competition was inaugurated by Debajyoti Gogoi, Inspector of Schools, Sivasagar Circle, and featured notable attendees including former Deputy Director of Secondary Education Abdul Zelil and senior journalist Manoj Kumar Borthakur.

Reputed writer Bhairav Munda presided over the session, while Prof Ajoy Gogoi, Prof Sivaprasad Mili, and NDTV Upper Assam Bureau Chief Kaustov Moni Kakoty served as judges. Jahnabi Konwar Borah of Kakajan Bagan MV School, Jorhat, won the first prize of Rs 10,000 and a trophy. Prahelika Saikia of Banmukh HS School, Sivasagar, and Junmoni Baruah of Rastriya HS School, Tinsukia, secured the second and third prizes, with awards of Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000, respectively. The competition saw participation from 45 schools across Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Charaideo, and Sivasagar.
