Six Arrested as Guwahati Police Recover Rented Vehicle Allegedly Bound for Illegal Sale

Guwahati: Guwahati Police arrested six individuals after recovering a rented vehicle that was allegedly being taken to Nagaland for illegal sale. The operation was carried out by a team from Hatigaon Police Station under the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) with assistance from Titabor and Mariani Police.
Using GPS tracking, police intercepted the vehicle after it was reportedly not returned to its owner following the expiry of the rental agreement. Along with the rented vehicle (AS-01-GN-2716), officers also seized a Bolero Pickup (AS-22-AC-0643) and a Mahindra Thar (AR-01-P-3745).
The arrested have been identified as Kaustav Jyoti Saikia, Bhaskar Barua, Abhinash Saikia, Bikash Das, Prandip Baruah, and Anurag Choudhary. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine whether the accused are linked to a larger interstate vehicle trafficking network.
