Sonapur Assault Case: Seven Arrested After Suspected Thief Dies

A suspected theft incident in Hatimura, Sonapur, turned fatal after a man allegedly assaulted by resort employees died during treatment. The victim, Farjul Alom (35) of Sonitpur district, was first taken to Sonapur District Hospital and later referred to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Police said preliminary findings indicate he was assaulted by employees of Mairas Resort. Seven persons have been arrested and questioned at Sonapur Police Station. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to determine individual responsibility.
