Sonapur Creates History with Diha Naam as 15,000 Participants Strive for Guinness World Record

In an ambitious endeavor to secure a place in the Guinness Book of World Records, 15,000 participants gathered in Sonapur, on the outskirts of Guwahati, on Sunday to perform Diha Naam. Organized by Sadou Assam Sankar-Madhav Sanskritik Diha Naam Samiti, the event aimed to revive and celebrate the cultural heritage of the state.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma extended congratulations to the organizers and participants for their unique cultural performance and the ambitious record-setting attempt. Diha Naam, a form of congregational prayers sung by women accompanied by nagera, taal, khol, and hand clapping, became a symbol of cultural unity as thousands joined together in this historic event.
