SOUNDSCAPES: Poetry and Music Unite at Cotton University’s Memorial Lecture Series

The Department of English at Cotton University recently hosted the Padmashree Jugal Kishore Choudhury Memorial Lecture Series, titled SOUNDSCAPES. The event featured a poetry reading session by Padmabhushan Jatin Das, with journalist and author Sanjoy Hazarika in conversation. The session showcased a diverse range of talents, including a soulful rendition by Dr. Arunabha Bhuyan, poetry recitations, and a violin performance by former Professor of Chemistry Satyendra Kumar Choudhury. Poems from various artists explored themes of art, modernity, hope, decadence, folktales, and activism. The session concluded with recitations by Jatin Das and a vote of thanks by Dr. Jeetumoni Basumatary, Assistant Professor at the Department of English, Cotton University.
