STF Arrests Three for Arms and Drug Trafficking in Assam

The Assam Police Special Task Force (STF) arrested three individuals from Muslim Chapori near Barchala, Dhekiajuli, for arms smuggling and drug trafficking. The accused—Matibur Rahman (26), Julfikar Ali (32), and Sohidul Islam (30)—were found with an HK33 rifle, 30 live cartridges, and other incriminating materials.

Authorities confirmed their links to a larger criminal network involved in drug peddling, arms trafficking, and vehicle theft. The crackdown on Char-sapori areas has raised concerns, with reports of youth, including students from Tezpur University, being targeted by crime syndicates.

STF, following directives from CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and DGP Harmeet Singh, has intensified its efforts against drug and arms trafficking in the region.
