Street Play in Sivasagar Spreads Awareness Against Child Marriage

As part of the nationwide Child Marriage Free India Campaign, a street play was held at the District Commissioner’s Office in Sivasagar to raise awareness against child marriage and promote girls’ education. Organised by the District Social Welfare Department with support from the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative, the play highlighted the harmful physical, mental and social effects of child marriage.

Performed by members of the Urban ICDS project, the programme drew participation from senior district officials, who stressed the need for community involvement alongside strict laws. The event concluded with a pledge for a child marriage-free India, distribution of awareness leaflets, and a mass signature campaign.
