Sub-Inspector Found Dead in Apparent Suicide in Assam’s Mangaldai District
In a startling turn of events, the body of Sub-Inspector Bhadreswar Nath (55) was discovered hanging from a tree near the public crematorium at Bhebarghat in Assam’s Mangaldai district on Tuesday. Nath, a resident of the Bhebarghat area, had gone missing since the previous evening following a dispute with family members. His body was later found in an isolated spot adjacent to the local crematorium.
Prakash Sonowal, Superintendent of Police, Darrang, has labeled the incident as a case of suicide. He revealed that the deceased had previously grappled with physical and mental health issues, leading to his family admitting him to a de-addiction center for rehabilitation. Due to his condition, Nath was not assigned any official responsibilities and was designated as ‘reserve closed’.
