Subansiri Hydroelectric Project to Be Fully Commissioned by May 2026

The 2,000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project is set for full commissioning by May 2026. Assam will receive 508 MW of paid power and 25 MW free. The first 750 MW phase starts in mid-June 2025. Dam filling has begun after slope stability clearance. The Centre has sanctioned ₹650 crore for erosion protection downstream, with ₹140 crore work already completed and more starting soon. IIT Roorkee planned the protection schemes, monitored by IIT Guwahati.
