Survey Records 945 Freshwater Turtles in Brahmaputra Stretch at Kaziranga

A survey along the Brahmaputra River in Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve recorded 945 freshwater turtles of seven species. Conducted from January 14 to 18 with support from the India Turtle Conservation Programme, the study covered a 174-km river stretch. The findings included critically endangered Black Softshell Turtles. The survey also documented rich wildlife diversity, highlighting the Brahmaputra as a key freshwater biodiversity hotspot.
