Suspected Heroin Recovered from Hidden Auto-Rickshaw Compartment in Cachar

Cachar, July 22: Cachar Police recovered four soap cases containing suspected heroin from a specially fabricated hidden compartment beneath the driver’s seat of an auto-rickshaw during a vehicle check at Dholai. The vehicle’s driver, Sebul Hussain Barbhuiya (27), was detained for questioning.

Police said the auto-rickshaw was intercepted based on specific intelligence while travelling from Bhaga Bazar to Silchar. An investigation is underway to trace the source and destination of the suspected narcotics and identify any links to a larger drug trafficking network.
