Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad Regrets Burning Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha’s Constitution

The Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad (TAYPA) admitted their mistake in burning the Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha’s constitution but justified it as a reaction to long-standing grievances. The act, supported by the All Tai Ahom Students’ Union, followed the Sangha’s expulsion of Chandra Baruah for attending the Tai Ahom festival Me-Dam-Me-Phi. TAYPA questioned the Sangha’s stance, calling it discriminatory. Over 10 FIRs were filed against TAYPA in Jorhat, with Sangha members condemning the incident as an attack on their religious identity. Further actions by TAYPA remain undecided.
