Tata’s ₹27,000-Crore Semiconductor Project Marks Major Boost for Assam

Assam Industries Minister Bimal Borah said Jagiroad has become a symbol of Assam’s industrial rise with Tata Group’s ₹27,000-crore Semiconductor Assembly and Test project. Termed Assam’s largest-ever industrial investment, the facility will produce around 48 million chips per day by 2026 and generate about 27,000 jobs. The site will be named Ratan Tata Electronic City. Borah highlighted MoUs with global firms during Advantage Assam 2.0 and said international logistics companies are exploring projects in Jagiroad. He criticised a Karnataka minister’s remarks questioning the project, calling them disrespectful to Assam’s youth.
